Opening Statement:
Good afternoon everyone. We are here today to discuss very controversial topics regarding foreign policy. I would like to talk about with the help of my president, Angie Tyner, and vice president, Jordana Bove, the many issues and effects of foreign policy on our country. We looked deeply into how to fix problems regarding North Korea, The war in Afghanistan, ISIS, and the Iran Nuclear Deal. As an administration, we invite others to ask questions or further clarifications about our viewpoints in the foreign policy in America.
1. We think we should go back to state of neutrality. George Washington state that we should be a state of neutrality when he started to develop this great nation. Even though he only stated neutral against France and Great Britain, but at the time they were our biggest threats. Today, our biggest threats are nations in the Middle East, terrorists, and North Korea. We understand that becoming a neutral state means pulling ourselves out of many affairs but it will be the best in the long run. Of course, if we were to be attacked or an affair would need our help, we would intervene. Becoming a neutral nation means we would take a step back in foreign affairs. We would pull our men from Afghanistan, have peace accordings with Kim Jong Un to try to bring peace to the conflict, and we will stay out of the Iran Nuclear Deal. The only conflict that we will not remain neutral for is ISIS. ISIS is the greatest conflict that we need to combat. It’s a serious threat that needs to be taken care of or else many innocent lives will be taken.
2. The Obama administration wanted to cripple the Islamic State by airstrikes and assistance to local forces to combat ISIS. In addition, he vowed to intensify the tactics used to beat ISIS. Obama agreed to not do anything that would make America or himself look stronger, he simply wants ISIS to be combated. Obama stated that he is reluctant to send troops over to the Middle East especially because it will not combat the conflict. He says that it would repeat the problems they've encountered before. He says he’s reluctant to send troops anywhere, because if there's terrorist attack in Yemen, then we’ll send troops there? No, he won’t send troops everywhere that there is an attack.
The Trump administration vowed to try to preserve the loss of innocent civilian lives being taken. Trump agreed with most of Obama’s idea to combat ISIS. He even re-elected Pentagon chairman and vice chairman of the joint chiefs of state. So the Trump administration is not going to “bomb the hell out of ISIS” as Trump once stated. The idea of airstrikes and arming local forces to combat ISIS is in play with Trump's plan. The core objectives remain: seizing the two remaining centers of the so-called caliphate — Mosul in Iraq and Raqqa in Syria — and countering the Islamic State elements in southern Syria and the Euphrates valley. To the Trump administration credit they recently improved the arming of Syrian kurds. Both administrations had similar ideas to combating ISIS.
3. I agree with both administrations. I think arming surrounding troops is a good idea. Of course there is always the flaw of ISIS getting american weapons, but if we aren’t sending our own troops over there, it’s our best option. Our administration does not want to send our own troops to the Middle East. We want to try to save our own troops lives. I especially agree with Obama saying to intensify our weapons. Obviously if the weapons we are using aren’t affecting ISIS enough to combat them, then we need to use more destructive weapons. Yes, i see how this shows America as powerful, but we believe this would be our best option. If the surround troops around ISIS do the job we believe they can complete by combating ISIS in the area, we can preserve innocent civilian lives. But we are certainly not going to bomb the hell out of ISIS. That will only create more problems. We will continue to intervene with ISIS, but try to refrain from sending our own troops. We will keep a close eye on ISIS to make sure they don’t capture any american citizens or plan any attacks against us. If they do attack our homeland, then and only then we will consider sending troops to fight them ourselves.
4. We will combat ISIS by using airstrikes and arming local troops with powerful weapons. As trump once stated “we will bomb the hell out of ISIS’. We will not be doing that. We will be using stronger missiles than previously use to try to crumble ISIS. Also we will be arming local troops with american weapons. We see the risk that ISIS can potentially get these weapons. But we are willing to take this risk. If surrounding troops do the job that we know they can then we can preserve innocent lives of the citizens over there. Also, if we inform the poor citizens that surrounds ISIS groups about how awful they are and that their could be a positive outcome if they join against ISIS. Although we will send weapons, we will not send troops. We will refrain from that unless they attack our turf. If then and only then we will consider sending our own men.
5. We plan to keep a neutral state in regarding to North Korea. We would like to return to a neutrality nation like Washington intended us to be. We are already bending it with being in conflict with ISIS. So, We would schedule peace accords with Kim Jong Un to try to combat the conflict. We get that they violated nuclear agreements for years with South Korea. But we are not South Korea. I understand that they are seen as a threat and could potentially bomb the US if conflict increases. But as recently seen, agreement increased and conflict have decreased already. Trump plans to visit with Un which could potentially be good or bad. If tensions decrease, then we should do our best to try to avoid this conflict again and return to a neutral nation. By doing this, hopefully North and South Korea can handle this conflict between them on their own. As we see this could be catastrophic, looking back at the Korean War, they can include United Nations to help with the conflict. We have many more things we need to focus on rather than foreign affairs.
7. To ensure that Americans are safe overseas and at home we are going to do our best to have peace throughout the world. We know many countries do not like Americans, but we have to try our best. For the countries that we do not get along with, we would suggest that Americans don’t travel to those countries until peace accords are made or we’re 100% sure they won’t be in danger due to political or racial reasons. As for our troops, by trying to become more of a neutral nation, were hoping we can save many of our own men lives. We want to only engage in war if absolutely necessary. We also want to keep our own people safe. We will hopefully do this by combating ISIS, if we beat ISIS then the percentage of attacks on our homeland will decrease therefore saving our own people's lives and decreasing casualties. Also if the military isn’t as focused on wars since we are not in them, hopefully they can work on national defense rather than foreign affairs. Our number one priority is to ensure the safety of our people and military overseas and at home.
8. We will pull our troops from Afghanistan. As we understand that the Taliban will probably remain in power we have been in this war for 17 years. If this problem has been going on for 17 years there is two options. Option 1- Use something extremely strong to scare the Taliban and all terrorist groups in Afghanistan, although that will spark a much greater conflict then started with. Option 2- pull from the war, bring our troops home, and just supply to surrounding groups to take down the Taliban. We will gladly choose option 2. As we are looking to turn into a neutral nation we want to get out of foreign affairs. But we still want to combat terrorism so we will supply to surrounding groups in hope of beating the Taliban. Once they are defeated, we will try to set up a democracy in Afghanistan. We will still try to get the three goals. We already defeated Osama Bin Laden, we just need to beat Al Qaeda and the Taliban and then set up a democracy.
9. If we become a neutral nation, we are pulling out of many foreign affairs. Therefore we may be seen as weak, although many nation’s know we are not. By not “stirring the pot” many nations might be pleased with how were acting and we’ll have a better impression. In this way, trade with other nations will improve now that we're not seen as a threat or overpowering nation. Also other nation’s will not see us as jerks or as number 1 so they will not create conflict with us. Also by us becoming peaceful with other countries and seeing the we create peace accords with previously countrie that we have had conflict with , we are seen as non-threatening and countries will not want to have a problem with us.
